Clear glowing skin is an essential for women to appear young, beautiful and healthy. Moisturizer is not just used to protect skin from the sun. It is also great for reducing wrinkles and dry, rough skin. Though most women know you need moisturizer, but only few take the time to apply it in their daily routine. Read on for the benefits of using facial moisturizer.

Younger looking skin.

Moisturizers do a great job of softening the skin and reducing dead skin cells. Most moisturizers also contain SPF, which will protect you from the dangerous UV rays of the sun. Excessive sun will produce wrinkles, so moisturizer is a great preventive product.

Easier makeup application.

Moisturizers are a smoothing agent. When your skin is smooth, it will make for easier makeup application. When you apply foundation or concealer to uneven or flaky skin, it will look uneven and chalky instead of smooth and natural. Instead of masking skin issues, it attracts attention to your problem areas.

More touchable skin.

Soft, touchable skin is an attribute important to many women. Men love this fact about women! Moisturizers are essential in repairing damaged skin cells, leaving the top layer of skin smooth and radiant looking.

Replenishes moisture lost from acne products.

When we have problem skin, we often use strong and sometimes harsh products for acne that can dry out our skin. Ingredients such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid kill pimples and blackheads by drying it out. Consistent use of these products can cause dry, flaky skin. Moisturizer will balance out your complexion by adding essential moisture without making your skin oily. Some facial cleansers may also dry out skin in their attempt to unclog pores and remove dirt, so even healthy skin needs moisturizer.

Moisturizers can do double duty.

Tinted moisturizers, such as Royal Expert Moisturizing Lotion, can provide both spf-packed moisturizer and a subtle form of coverage that matches your skin tone.

Excessive applications of moisturizer can make skin oily. The best time to apply moisturizer is in the morning to protect against the sun and provide a smooth face for makeup application. Use a toner at night before bed to unclog pores.

Applying facial moisturizer is not rocket science, but you'd be surprised by the number of people who do it incorrectly. Moisturizers provide a protective layer from the environment, while keeping your skin hydrated and moist. Applying your moisturizer the correct way helps you to get the most from it.

Step 1:
Gently wash your face and apply toner if it is part of your routine. Lightly pat the excess water off your face with a clean towel, leaving your skin damp.

Step 2:
Wash your hands. Open your moisturizer, and put little dabs of cream on your cheeks, forehead, nose, and chin. Beginning at your right or left cheek, gently massage the moisturizer into your skin in small, circular strokes. Continue to your chin, other cheek and forehead, then down to your nose. Massage the moisturizer in until it's fully absorbed.

Step 3:
Apply a small amount of moisturizer to your neck. Massage in an upward stroking motion, until it's fully absorbed.

Step 4:
Allow your facial moisturizer to soak in and dry for two minutes before applying foundation and makeup.

Tips

  • Avoid your eye areas when applying facial moisturizer. Getting it too close to your eyes can cause irritation.
  • Apply a moisturizer in the morning and at night. Use a moisturizer with SPF during the day. However, Wearing a moisturizer with SPF at night won't harm you, but it isn't the best thing you could be doing for your skin. At night, when your skin is repairing itself, it's better to use a moisturizer formulated to improve the skin's function.
  • Make sure you're using the right facial moisturizer for your skin type. If you have dry skin, use an emollient, creamy moisturizer. If you have oily skin, use a lightweight, gel moisturizer. If you have combination skin, use a gel moisturizer on the oily areas and a creamy moisturizer on the dry areas.
  • Don't overdo it. You only need a few small dabs of moisturizer to effectively hydrate your face.
